The Entourage · Chapter IV — Six Friends, One Name

Six Friends, One Name
Their home was in District 199, on a residential island connected to Arkademy by pedestrian bridges and a suspended transport corridor.
Tom, Cass, Max, Kira, Kala and Vega had lived alongside one another for most of their lives. They knew which silences meant anger, which jokes concealed embarrassment and whose turn it was to apologise even when that person strongly disagreed.
All six of us. As usual.

Music was their favourite way of being together.
They called themselves The Entourage.
At Arkademy, the name had spread beyond their performances. It meant the six friends who arrived together, defended one another and could turn an apparently straightforward task into a discussion that lasted through dinner.
Are we still arguing about this?
I prefer discussing.

Their abilities made them unusual. The uncertainty surrounding their earliest lives made them different in ways they could not explain.
But they had shared breakfasts, unfinished songs, private jokes and people waiting for them at home.
For now, that was enough to tell them where they belonged.
