The brilliant move might be a pass.

For readers who love dribbling, passing and the excitement of a basket built together. Panther’s basketball story brings creativity together with an eye for the team.

You might already love basketball, or be discovering it for the first time. This illustrated origin story invites you behind the sporting moment: into the doubts, friendships and choices that help shape Panther before Sportia.

There is room for what you feel.

Sport can bring excitement, pride and a wish to improve. It can also bring nerves, disappointment and the feeling that everyone else has it worked out. Panther’s story makes room for those less visible moments, exploring creativity, listening and cooperation.

An invitation to recognise yourself in a character, talk about a difficult moment and wonder what another choice might look like. The story does not promise a perfect athlete: it gives you someone to accompany as they learn.

Discover the person behind Panther.

Five seconds remain. Panther attempts an impossible move and misses her unmarked teammate. She will discover that imagination opens more possibilities when it leaves room for others too.

Follow the journey across 22 illustrated scenes, from early challenges to Panther’s place at Sportia. Everyday details sit alongside sporting ambition: a conversation, a shared practice or a question can matter as much as the moment everyone applauds.

A sporting world with people at its heart.

What kind of teacher does that journey create? The later scenes bring Panther to Sportia, where new children arrive with their own excitement, doubts and ways of learning. Discover how this teacher’s experience shapes the way they welcome others into basketball.

For young readers—and the adults beside them.

Written for children aged 7–11, with the emotional experiences of this age in mind. Read independently or together, then use the story to open a conversation about creativity, listening and cooperation. Ask which moment felt familiar, whose choice surprised you and what you might want to try or ask about next.

The reader also includes a small challenge and words from the sporting world. This is an illustrated story to enjoy and discuss, rather than a technical training programme.
